Friday 24th September 2010

Well this is it. Last training session before we fly out to Delhi. It has been a whirlwind few weeks. Training in Scotland then heading to lilleshall for the final trainng camp. It was great to see all the GB and English squad girls and to watch the boys routines.

My training has been going really well over the last few weeks. Full routines all week this week and just tweaking the odd few bits and pieces. We have decided not to compete the double tuck dismount of beam or change my bars because we want nice clean safe routines that stick 100% of the time. I am really pleased with the way my training has been going and had my last session in Glasgow today. It was great to see all the hard work coming together. All the coaches and gymnasts have been lovely and I got lots of nice good luck cards and gifts and lots of cheering.

Took me two hours to pack my bag this morning but its less than 30kgs and I have everything in it that I need. Off to visit my relatives before the flight on Sunday morning. Day of tomorrow Saturday will just chill out and do a bit of last minute panic shopping im sure.

Please visit my website and feel free to leave me a message or facebook me. I will be sending regular updates through and hopefully some routines.

Fingers crossed it all goes to plan and I have a good clean competition!

Hi everyone!

Sorry not written for while but I am working really hard to get ready for commonwealths games.

After the British it was back to the gym to get fit and strong for the commonwealth’s trials.

Our preparation for the games has been tough but good.  We had our first camp in Waveney then I went up to Scotland for a training camp at Bellahouston. It was good but tough. I was then back in gym for a couple weeks working on new skills.
August and September has been a combination of getting to know about the games who as going what the camp would be like and how we can acclimitise to Delhi.

In September I traveled up to Scotland for training then went to Stirling to pick up my kit it is really nice. Love everything and the leotards are stunning.

In the last two weeks have been in Scotland working with the national coach so that we can both get used to each other and the way we work.

Its only 10 days till I fly to Delhi and 20 days till the competition starts. It is so exciting I can’t wait but am also nervous at the same time.

I will be sending regular updates whilst I am in India and you can catch up on my facebook on what is happening.

Thanks for visiting my site please sign my guestbook

JULY 2010
Hey everyone,

Hey guys ... so the british is literally here and it’s been a long time out of competition for me. We had our county championships at the weekend and that has been my first all around competition since last British !!!

All has been going pretty well recently, before British teams things were looking up but I had a fall of bars and landed on the concrete on my foot damaging my heel but it’s all fixed now. Exams have been keeping me really busy recently but thankfully they are all out of the way now and it’s back to 6th form to start on my second year of A levels, no time to relax for me.
Driving lessons have been keeping me buy when I’m not revising or training so I should be out there on the open road by the end of this year, and I can’t wait !!

The Notts girls are all getting ready for the British champs now working really hard, which isn’t easy when it’s so warm outside, there is quite a few of us competing this year so I hope goes well for us all, and I would love to hear lots of support for my team mates! This is the last trial for the commonwealth games selections so I’ve got to get the best results I can and then keep building through the summer for September so that means no holiday in the south of France for me this year, but it will all be worth it. Thank you for all your continued support

MARCH 2010
Hey everyone,

Sorry it really has been a long time since my last journal entry, but I have been up to a lot!! Not all has been good but I’m still in there working towards commonwealths later on this year.

In September unfortunately I fell off beam one morning in training and fractured my ankle, and damaged the ligaments, so that put me out of action and in plaster for the next three and a half weeks, which of course was an absolute nightmare, but after the cast came off and I started some physio I didn’t have long before I had to get a bar routine ready for the Northern Europeans in Cardiff.

First time competing since the British not exactly how I hoped it would be, I could only compete on bars and without a dismount but it was still giving me a feel for the competition atmosphere that I haven’t experienced in months.

Helping team Scotland to third place as team captain in the competition really gave me the boost to get back to the gym and build up my fitness and routines ready for what this year brings.

November and December were mainly just training, getting fit and working hard, no rest for the wicked as they say, and of course lots of conditioning had to be done before Christmas and New Year and the few days off that we are allowed.

Well what can I say Christmas this year Santa was especially good to me and brought me an I pod touch along with a few other amazing presents. But overall the four days off were much needed and nice to catch up with the family etc.

2010…..gosh It’s gone so fast already!! I can’t believe we are already in March.

In February I was all ready for the Scottish Champs but my back pain started to come back, so to stay safe we decided to withdraw from the competition and wait for an MRI scan to check everything was alright, luckily there was no major damage, still not 100% good news but I’ll be back and fighting fit soon.

Now I’m 17 =] and had my first two driving lessons, which has been really good, getting the hang of the steering and manoeuvres which is all fun, well for the most part.

Training wise I’m pretty much doing routines and just looking forward to the next few competitions and hoping to get some good results. Fingers crossed at least.

Thanks for looking at my website and for all your continued support

JULY 2009
Hey everyone,

Thank you for all the comments I really appreciate all the support I get, these last few weeks have been majorly hard work, first of all I had the Scottish championships, this was an ideal time for a run through of all my routines, two weeks before the British to give me an idea of what I need to improve on,

The competition overall went well just one fall on my newest move on beam which I still hadn’t managed to secure even after practising hundreds in training !

I was really happy with the competition I managed to compete my full twisting yurchenko on vault so I was really pleased, and winning just made everything worth the work, I always enjoy this competition as all the Scottish coaches and gymnasts always cheer for me and make the competition more fun.

The next day there was finals and I qualified on floor, bars and beam as I don’t have a second vault I couldn’t enter for vault, the finals went really well my floor and bars went through cleanly and on beam I finally managed to stick my free cartwheel layout which I was so pleased about but unfortunately right at the end of my routine I did my change leg ring and split the beam, but I still managed to make the highest score and got three more gold medals in the finals.

The weekend after the Scottish was our County Championships, I would have been competing in this but I landed twisted from a double front dismount and over stretched my interior cruciate ligament in my knee, luckily there was our gym physio coming in that night to check me over, a lot of swelling was there so they couldn’t really tell what was going on, but after seeing her the next day and an EIS physio on the Thursday I got some stronger pain killers from the doctor and took a few days rest.

On the Monday I had to push through and get my routines ready for the British. I had to take each day as it came but it was still pretty sore, I had some heavy duty taping on my knee and we pushed through.

On the Saturday the competition got to a good start my floor was clean and I was really happy, next was vault where again I was doing my full twisting yurchenko, this landed well and I was sitting well in the rankings amongst the Olympic girls, but when I got to bars my routine just didn’t come together  and I suffered a fall, but I could still pull it back all I had to do was stick my beam, and luckily that had come together and I stuck my free cartwheel layout and then I managed to keep it calm and steady to the end, such a relief once that was over. But I actually had enjoyed the competition for the first time in a long time. And finishing fourth was such a great achievement after all that has happened in the past two years.

Finals on the Sunday I had qualified for three finals bars, beam and floor. Beam and bars did not go according to plan and I had one fall on each, floor I landed but by the time I had finished my knee was sore and it was ready for a rest.

Now it’s summer and I have a holiday in the south of France to look forward to, thanks again to everyone who shows there support for me.

Hey everyone,
Thank you for all the guestbook comments; I really appreciate all the support.

It has been a few hard weeks, getting ready for the British teams, first we lost Laura through her back injury, then Niamh landed on straight legs and of course Louise has gone off to America to the university of Denver, which left just Me and Becky from our usual team, but luckily for us we had two other strong team members ready to take their place.

The A team made their way down to Guildford on Saturday afternoon, we were rather excited and having laughing fits about absolutely nothing !

We checked into the hotel unpacked and then headed down for dinner in the hotel, after watching some Britain’s got talent and a film we settled down and went to bed.

Sunday wasn’t an early start and we weren’t on until the afternoon so we had time to relax and get ready for the last round of competition, we arrived in time to see our younger B team compete their last two pieces and then after the competition was running an hour early it was time for warm up.

This competition is always a good time, and this year we had no pressure as we knew we weren’t at our strongest so this was not a year to take the team title, we worked our way through the competition and I was competing two new skills but unfortunately they did not land so it’s back to hard work to make sure I can land them in my next competition.

After not having our full team we still managed to hold our own and got a bronze medal, this was a really good achievement and we were so happy.

Three weeks now until the Scottish champs, then I have my counties and then it’s the British!! This year is going so fast already, back to training now, getting these routines ready is going to be hard work, but I’ll do my best to stick them.

Thanks guys

MAY 19TH 2009
Hi
Sorry not written for a while its been a busy year so far and been working hard as it is my GCSE’s  this year.
I have done a couple of competitions this year, British Schools and Celtic Cup, but as I had a broken finger and some new moves on beam neither competition quite went to plan.
I have been working hard on upgrading all my routines for British in July but first it’s British Teams this weekend. I am really looking forward to the competition although I haven’t got my new tumbles on floor yet, but bars and beam have both been upgraded . This will be the first time I have put these routines out.
Unfortunately the Notts team have suffered a few set backs with Becky and Niamh both carrying injuries so it’s going to be a tough competition for us.
After teams it’s Scottish Championships in June then my first senior British. Its really scary thinking that I am a senior but I am hoping to stay fit and focussed and to do well.
Wel,l back to the studying for me, got a few more exams to go before I can have a well earned rest from the books!
Thanks for all your support please visit my guest book and leave me a message.

january 2009
Hey everyone

Happy New Year to you all hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

Thought I would just update you on the last couple of weeks of the year and looking forward to 2009.

Last time I wrote I was just off to Northern Europeans. Had a great competition we all left Glasgow Airport on Thursday morning and arrived in Iceland it was cold and really quiet hardly anyone around.

On Thursday we went for lunch and to have a look around the shops. We then did some stretching and conditioning and had a feel on the apparatus.

Friday was podium training which went quite well for both the Girls and Boys. I got through all my routines with some really helpful encouragement from the rest of team, bars started off difficult but I soon got through 2 routines so I was pleased and was starting to look forward to the competition on the Saturday.

I had a good competition stayed on everything so I was really happy and the team came 2nd and I took the all around title. Apparatus finals on the Sunday and I had made Bars Beam and Floor finals, all the coaches and the gymnasts were all cheering for me it was a really good to be back competing for Scotland after such a long time.

Apparatus finals on Sunday and Bars first, it was going well and then I fell on my tkatchev I was so annoyed with myself, thank god I had the team there to encourage me to finish. After bars my nerves had completely disappeared so I just went to beam and thought what will happen, will happen. Much to my happiness I stayed on beam and got a good score so I was really pleased. After everything I managed to get silver on bars gold on beam and bronze on floor, so a really good result.

It was back to the gym to get ready for the Xmas display before the Christmas holidays then I got a call from my coach Clare to say I had been invited to compete for Great Britain at an invitational in Barcelona on the 20th of December so it was back to training full routines and getting fit.

On Friday 20th December we left east midlands airport at 0630am it was very cold and early to be traveling abroad. Once we got to Barcelona we had to wait a couple of hours for the gymnasts from other countries to arrive. I had podium training at 4pm in the afternoon but struggled on bars and floor as it had been a very long day, although I felt good with my routines I just couldn’t get through full routines cleanly. It was back to the hotel for dinner and an early night.

Competition started at 8am it was all around first then apparatus finals on the same day so a long day ahead.

Vault I just did a straight and got an okay score but it could have been better, Bars was next and I stuck but unfortunately the judges made an error and left 0.9 off my start value so when my score flashed up I was disappointed, by the time I got to beam I was scared about my mount as in podium training I couldn’t get it right and despite my best attempt I fell on it and then I fell on my flic half which I hadn’t fallen on the whole trip, but floor was next and I felt confident I could pull out a good routine and I did and my score made me really happy I won the all around title despite my two falls on beam.

Next it was a quick break and then warm up again for finals I had to warm up for bars and floor and I was getting really tired.

Bars was first and had a good routine it was clean and despite not having my new dismount which meant I had no forward move I still  managed a 14 on bars first time I have managed that elusive 14 so was really happy. By the time floor came around I could barely keep my eyes open but I did the best I could but I knew it wasn’t as good as my first routine so I didn’t expect any result from it. But I managed to win bars by quite a bit so I was happy.

Sunday early morning and traveling back to Nott’s we didn’t know if I would get my trophies on the flight as we only had hand luggage and couldn’t get into my case but it was okay as they didn’t mind me taking them on as hand luggage..

It’s January and am back in the gym preparing for the new season still got work to do preparing for the year ahead, Please visit my guestbook and leave a message.
